Five-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter John Legend and 17-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes will perform during the 2009 NBA All-Star Game Halftime Show on Sunday, Feb. 15, at US Airways Center in Phoenix. Prior to the start of the game, Pop superstar Chris Brown along with Phoenix Suns center Shaquille O’Neal will introduce the All-Star players. The performances will air live on TNT, Score Canada, ESPN Radio, and in more than 200 countries and territories beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Is it just me or does John Legend seem like a really random choice for the All-Star halftime show? He just doesn’t scream basketball. Not saying basketball fans don’t listen to John Legend, but…well…really? And it also seems really random for him to accept the gig as well.

I mean, I know I’ve seen him at various basketball games with his “girlfriend,” but once again, just doesn’t seem like his type of venue. Choosing John Legend is like when they chose Paul McCartney for the half-time show of the Super Bowl, or even that year they chose James Brown. Doesn’t make any sense. But hey, I’m sure he will give an excellent performance. I guess.
